The Turtle Sanctuary Experience at Mazatlan

Let us take you through this natural protected area where the community of El Recreo has joined efforts with CONANP (National Commission of Natural Protected Areas) in protecting the olive ridley sea turtle. Meet the faces behind this program and connect with the people as they share with you some of the preservation techniques they use.

Glide in a kayak between lush vegetation tunnels and immerse yourself in the mangrove wetlands wildlife. Roll your sleeves up and help the new hatchlings make it to their new home.

As if it wasn’t enough, the meal that you will share with your tribe comes directly from the community orchard, from farm to table!

"Unforgettable sea turtle experience!"

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour - everything from learning about the sanctuary, releasing them into the ocean, kayaking through the mangroves, and complete with a delicious meal. Guides were wonderful and knowledgeable. We had a 3 and 5 year old with us and they were engaged the entire time. Would highly recommend!

"Such a great experience"

We had such a fantastic experience with this tour. Our 12 years old girl did not want to do excursions at all & she loved this one! Our guide was very friendly & informative. Releasing the turtle hatchlings to the ocean was the highlight, but we had a lot of fun in the kayak, too! Such beautiful scenery! Very highly recommend to anyone!

"Highly Recommended"

We had a great time at the turtle sanctuary yesterday. The kayaking was fun and relaxing and the turtle release was awesome. Our tour guide, Miso, was wonderful. He picked us up on time, bought us coffee and was very knowledgeable. This is a great way to spend a half day.
